Open ’em!
To the editor:
Don’t shower with your eyes closed! In a well-meaning recent column (“Get that flabby brain in shape,” Opinion, July 26), Bill Ferguson suggested it would be a good mental exercise to close your eyes when you shower or walk around the house.
For a moment I thought I was reading humorist Dave Barry.
As a physical therapist who often treats people who have fallen in their homes, I can assure you that closing your eyes while moving about is not a good idea! I would suggest whistling while you work, swinging your arms when you walk and counting butterflies — with your eyes wide open.
