Students voting on new Kansas quarter

Lawrence’s high school students were among thousands of high school students across Kansas who are voting today for the image that will be displayed on the back of the official Kansas quarter.

Their choices are a buffalo, a sunflower, a bow-and-arrow toting American Indian or a sunflower and wheat design.

Students at Lawrence High School and at Free State High School were voting for the images during their seminar periods today.

The results of the student vote will be announced next week, with the final product forwarded to the U.S. Mint by May 15.

You can vote online (unofficially, of course) to see how your picks match up with the students.

You can also vote in the state’s own online poll at www.accesskansas.org.
