Baldwin resident found dead in Lake Shawnee
Shawnee County authorities are still investigating the cause of death for a 41-year-old Baldwin resident who was found Wednesday evening floating face down in Lake Shawnee, near the southeast edge of Topeka.
Witnesses said the man, identified as Mark A. Mitchel, had been fishing shortly before he was found unresponsive in the water near the shore by a fisherman.
Foul play is not suspected, said Martha Lutz, a Shawnee County sheriff’s deputy.
The Shawnee County coroner’s office is investigating the cause of death, Lutz said.
