Rain moving in for tonight, Saturday

If you’re going to be outdoors late tonight or Saturday, plan to get wet.

“It’s going to be pretty soggy,” said Ross Janssen, 6News meteorologist.

The Lawrence area got a brief soaking early this afternoon, as showers pushed through and left 0.16 of an inch, Janssen said.

“It only lasted for about an hour and a half,” he said.

The sun was shining through mostly cloudy skies about 4:30 p.m. But a bigger storm system was headed toward Lawrence by 10 p.m., bringing heavier rains.

“It’ll rain through most of tomorrow,” Janssen said. “I think we’ll have rain pretty much through three-fourths of the day.”

He predicted much of the rain will be finished by 5 p.m. Saturday.

“I think some places will pick up anyplace from an inch to an inch and a half,” he said. Some areas may see even more, he said.

Saturday morning’s low temperature will be 50, rising to about 60 by Saturday afternoon.

“Sunday looks like a drier day,” he said.

Sunday morning’s temperature will be 48, but will rise to only 63 for the high.

“We’ll still be battling quite a bit of cloud cover,” Janssen said.

Monday will see fewer clouds, with the high reaching 67. Tuesday’s high will be 76, with mostly sunny skies.

On Wednesday, expect windy conditions, with skies become partly cloudy and a high of 83, he said.
