Few good jobs

To the editor:

I was astounded at Eric Haar's April 18 letter, "Wage fears." In fact, I read it twice as I couldn't believe it. Sure, it is nice if you are wealthy, have a great-paying job. What about the many, many people out there working long hard hours who have a family to raise and pay high rent for a place to live and can't even afford a car as the insurance and taxes are too high?

High school graduates don't get any better jobs than nongraduates -- flipping burgers, waiting on customers, working at a dry cleaner, etc. -- they work hard and long hours. Believe me, their wages are not that good, but they do it and have to try to stretch their paychecks. Even college grads can't always find a good-paying job. Hopefully they will pay a living wage to help all of these people, and believe me there are a lot of them.

And, with all of the outsourcing of American jobs, good jobs are getting increasingly harder to find every day.
