To the editor:
Lawrence is truly a marvelous place to live! There is always so much to do here. This last weekend, Lawrence was host to the Kansas University Relays and several outstanding cultural events, all of which received coverage in the Journal-World. We wish to respond, however, to the review of the University Theatre's production of "A Little Night Music" by Stephen Sondheim, which we saw Sunday afternoon.
This was a fantastic production! The voices were universally good; the costumes and sets were beautiful, yet not mentioned by the reviewer; the story is funny; the music is lovely; the movement is critical to the complexity of the plot. It was a delightful afternoon of theater. We are concerned that the poor review of the production in Sunday's Journal-World will discourage patrons from attending this most worthwhile show. Perhaps the reviewer did not see the same version that was presented on Sunday, but this is truly one of University Theatre's most outstanding shows and should not be missed!
