Lake litter

To the editor:

Saturday afternoon, we picked up two garbage bags full of litter around the small waterfall area below the dam at Clinton Lake. This area is constantly littered, and we pick up trash there on a regular basis. This area is popular with fishermen, and much of the trash was related to fishing, including fishing lines and lures that are dangerous to children and animals that use the area.

If these folks enjoy the outdoors, they should have some investment in maintaining it. I often see people standing along trash-filled banks fishing with their children. Along with fishing technique, perhaps they could impart this solid wisdom: “Always leave a place better than you found it.” Along with the beer, pop and fast food, perhaps they could pack a trash bag. I hope that others will be inspired to clean up this beautiful area.
