Guns, safety

To the editor:

Gov. Sebelius’ insistence on preventing passage of the concealed-gun bill is another example of political correctness gone astray.

All Kansans and all other Americans have a constitutional right to protect themselves. Mr. Ikenberry, in his letter published April 8, points out that while it is legal to openly carry a weapon in most public places, it is not a good idea.

If all gun laws that we presently have were properly enforced, this issue would not be an issue. In reality, we don’t have enough law enforcement officers to properly enforce all gun laws and thus, keep Kansans safe.

Of special interest, Mr. Ikenberry further pointed out that this law presently is working effectively in 46 other states.

Kansas is not the “Wild West” and Gov. Sebelius is not Wyatt Earp.
