Cycling care

To the editor:

If Lawrence is a bicycle-friendly city, then I would really hate to see one that is not.

To the lady that put me on the ground because she did not observe the very basic rules of the road, yes, it was your fault. I was in the crosswalk for crying out loud, but you did not see me because you did not look.

In order to avoid you running me over I had to swerve and hit the ground. My elbow and knee still hurt, but I will live.

I try to ride every day. Most drivers are very courteous and very careful. I appreciate that very much. Having been hit by a car in Lawrence some years ago while in a crosswalk, I get a little cranky about this.

More and more riders are out riding with the nice spring weather we are having. I would like everyone to be careful — cyclists and motorists. Remember, a little courtesy won’t kill you.

Jim Turner,
