Walk to benefit research for blood cancers
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s fifth annual Light the Night Walk will be Sept. 25 in South Park. Registration begins at 6 p.m. with the walk at 7 p.m.
Participants who raise more than $25 will carry a white or red flickering balloon on the two- to three-mile walk. The society will sponsor events before and after the walk, serving refreshments and providing entertainment. Dedication banners will be on site to leave a message or name in honor or memory of loved ones with cancer.
Proceeds help the society research leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. Last year, the event raised more than $14.2 million nationwide.
