Vouchers available for talk by Janet Reno
Vouchers for Janet Reno’s Sept. 23 lecture at the Lied Center are available beginning today.
The free vouchers, which are required to attend the lecture, can be picked up in the Student Union Activities office in the Kansas Union or at the Lied Center box office. Phone orders for will call can be made by calling 864-4550.
Reno, former U.S. attorney general, is scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23, as part of the law school’s Stephenson Lecture in Law and Government series. She also will speak to law students throughout the day.
Recreation
Community Building closed for weekend
The Community Building, 115 W. 11th St., will close Friday through Sunday for the Lawrence Quilters’ Guild annual quilt show.
The closing includes the gymnasium, weight room, locker rooms and racquetball courts. All other city recreation facilities will operate on their regular schedules.

Juvenile Justice
Lawrence attorney to serve on state board
Topeka — A Lawrence attorney has been appointed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to a state juvenile justice board.
Juanita Carlson, who has been in private practice since 1991, was named to a four-year term on the Kansas Advisory Group on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
The nine-member advisory board reviews the state juvenile justice plan and makes recommendations on grant applications.
