To the editor:

It has been a privilege for members of the Free State High School band to participate in Kansas University Band Day, KU Marching Band Festival, and this year to play at Memorial Stadium in support of the football team. Clearly, the music faculty and administration at KU have made an extraordinary effort to present a positive image of KU to our band members. These efforts at outreach benefit our community and improve the image of KU in Lawrence.

I would hope that Athletic Director Lew Perkins would also see the benefit of renting Memorial Stadium for football games to Free State at a reasonable price in future years. This would seem to be the policy that is most consistent with the outreach efforts of the rest of the KU faculty.
