Burglaries and thefts reported
- Someone drove off a GMC Suburban– and with it, a .45-caliber Glock pistol, house keys and a cell phone –from outside Johnny’s Tavern, 401 N. Second St., according to a police report. The theft happened sometime between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday. The property, worth more than $26,000, belonged to a 27-year-old Topeka man and 23-year-old Lawrence woman who were inside the tavern eating lunch.
- A 22-year-old Lawrence woman reported 25 Sony Playstation games, $450 in currency and $500 in DVDs missing from her residence in the 1900 block of East 19th Street, according to a police report. The theft happened between 8:30 a.m. and 8:35 p.m. Aug. 28, according to a police report.
- E & E Electric Co. in Baldwin is missing $1,827 in property, including two drills. A 39-year-old employee told police the items were taken sometime between 5 p.m. Aug. 28 and 7:30 a.m. Aug. 29 from a vehicle in the 3600 block of Crestview Road.
- A 22-year-old Kansas University student reported his $2,025 laptop computer taken between 6:30 a.m. and noon Aug. 30 from his apartment in the 2400 block of Alabama Street.
- Someone took a grinder, propane heater and air compressor during a residential burglary between 6 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Aug. 29 in the 1600 block of West Second Street. The burglar also caused $500 in damage to a garage wall. The 26-year-old owner of the items estimated their value at $1,242.
