A defendant in a murder case waived his right to a speedy trial Friday, and a judge scheduled the suspect’s nine-day trial for the next available time slot: starting Jan. 12.
Corey T. Robinson, 22, Topeka, is charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder in connection with the March 14 shooting death of Quincy M. Sanders, 21, Lawrence.
Robinson remains in the Douglas County Jail.
Kansas Bar Assn. taps Lawrence resident
Jim Clark, Lawrence, has been appointed legislative counsel of the Kansas Bar Assn.
Clark was formerly the assistant attorney general for the Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal in Topeka.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State Teacher’s College, now Emporia State University, and his law degree from Kansas University.
He has served as president of the Kansas Society of Association Executives and on the board of directors for Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Clark will replace Paul Davis, who left the association in July to join a private practice in Lawrence.
