KPERS bailout
To the editor:
As a state employee I see the proverbial giant screwdriver coming again. The remark of “KPERS in trouble” has been said year after year after year.
The House and Senate have repeatedly turned a blind eye to their responsibilities. It is the lawmakers who are responsible for the wages, health insurance and retirement for state of Kansas employees. They are the top management, the CEOs, and the company is the state of Kansas. They have failed miserably.
It’s time for the lawmakers to change their ways and take care of their employees, instead of the employees always having to take care of the lawmakers. It’s time for all lawmakers to take a hard look in the mirror and ask, “What am I doing for Kansas?”
For this state employee onlooker and voter, I am sure not seeing anything. Literally.
