Bush failings

To the editor:

Scott Burkhart’s letter of Oct. 29 seems to try to characterize Christy Kennedy as wishing for our president to fail, thus destroying society, freedom and, of course, letting the terrorists win. I actually think that would more or less be the result of his succeeding in the plans he has afoot. To wit:

â The attacks on civil liberties posed by the Patriot Act and Total Information Awareness.

â The bankrupting of the country to fill the pockets of Dubya’s rich friends.

â The unjust occupation of Iraq that is bringing once-warring Islamic factions together to fight the common enemy: US.

I could go on, of course, but I really doubt Scott is listening to anyone but Rush Limbaugh and his ilk.

Finally, I am amused that whenever Republicans have trouble defending their president, they start attacking Clinton. Who brought him up, anyway?

Bob Gent,
