Overland Park ? Lawrence High’s volleyball team went 1-2 Thursday at the Shawnee Mission East quadrangular.

The Lions fell to SM East, 11-25, 13-15; defeated Leavenworth, 17-25, 25-18, 17-15; and lost to Overland Park Aquinas, 25-18, 23-25, 7-15.

Drew DeBiasse was cited for her passing for the Lions (9-17).

“Even though we went 1-2, we did a pretty good job. We’ve not quite turned the corner, but the blinker is definitely on,” LHS coach Jo Huntsinger said.

The Lions next play Tuesday at Topeka Washburn Rural.

Free State High

Olathe — Free State High won once match, but lost twice Thursday at Olathe Northwest.

The Firebirds fell to Shawnee Mission Northwest, 15-25, 25-23, 12-15, and K.C. Metro, 25-10, 16-25, 12-15, before defeating Olathe Northwest, 27-29, 25-18, 15-8.

Jenny Heppert and Jamie Stanclift were cited for outstanding play.

The Firebirds (13-12) will play host to a quad Tuesday night.
