Top-heavy district
To the editor:
In the Journal-World article “Districts disclose school bosses’ pay,” on Oct. 1, Randy Weseman said, “Anyone who thinks the Lawrence district is top-heavy hasn’t done enough homework.” The total pay for the administrators listed in the article is $4.3 million — that doesn’t even include benefits. And, the kicker is — none of those people spend time in the classroom doing instruction! That does not include the support staff. The total district package with benefits is more like $7.4 million. The Lawrence district is not top-heavy. It’s a nuclear mushroom cloud! Mr. Weseman claims to be an administrative minimalist. Well, I would hate to see the district if he were an administrative maximalist!
