Warmer, windy weather ahead

If you’re thinking about hanging outdoor Christmas lights Saturday, warmer weather, with temperatures in the low 60s, will make it more pleasant.

“It’s going to be nice as far as the temperature,” said Matt Jacobs, 6News meteorologist. “But it’s going to be very windy, with southerly winds 15 to 25 (mph) and gusting higher than that — up to 35 (mph).”

For the rest of Friday, the Lawrence area can expect a high of 42, with breezy conditions, he said.

Saturday morning’s low temperature will be 21, with the afternoon high reaching 62 under partly cloudy skies, Jacobs said.

“Sunday will continue to be mild, with winds not as prevalent,” Jacobs said. “They’ll be lighter, from 10 to 15 (mph).”

Sunday’s morning low will start at 31, with the high climbing to 56.

Monday’s morning low will be 28, climbing to 51 by afternoon, he said.

“The highs will be in the mid 50s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,” Jacobs said.

The next outlook for rain is Tuesday, with a 30 to 40 percent chance, he said.
