KU professor to discuss Vietnam’s rural impact

A Kansas University professor will discuss the effects of the Vietnam War on rural America during a presentation Tuesday at the Watkins Community Museum of History.

Jack Hofman, an associate professor of anthropology, will focus on the lives of 22 servicemen from western Oklahoma who died between 1965 and 1972 in Vietnam. Hofman also will discuss the connections among the men and veterans from Kansas, an indication of the effects the war had on families and communities in rural areas.

The free discussion is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the museum, 1047 Mass.
