Windy conditions expected for Thanksgiving
If you have outdoor activities planned on Thanksgiving, take the wind into account, says a local weather forecaster.
“T-Day, it’s going to be breezy — blustery if you will,” said Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist.
“We’re going to see temperatures in the middle 40s and we’re going to have northwesterly and breezy winds,” he said. “So it’s a good day to sit inside and eat some turkey.”
Sayers said Thursday’s winds will be 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.
“The skies will be mostly sunny. From your window it will look nice,” he said.
For family football games, “you’ll just need to bundle up and maybe focus on the running game with the winds,” he said.
He said those driving Wednesday into eastern Missouri will run into scattered showers and light rain.
“But as far as the state of Kansas, we are just fine,” he said.
The high temperature for Wednesday in Lawrence will be 52 under partly cloudy skies.
“It will drop down into the middle 20s again Thursday morning. We’ll have a high of 44 on Thanksgiving,” Sayers said.
The morning low for Friday will be 24, with the high climbing to 41.
“Friday morning, it will be breezy, still,” he said. “Basically Friday is just going to be a very cool day with clouds clearing out by the afternoon. Saturday morning, will be cool to start (27), but we’ll have a nice warmup through the day, with the high of 57.”
Sunday’s skies will be partly cloudy, with a high of 53 and lows right around the freezing point, he said.
