Inspiring words

To the editor:

The article by David Shribman (Journal-World, Nov. 22) that noted many of the words of John F. Kennedy was excellent. I was a college sophomore at the time of his death. My mother stated sadly that this event would have far-reaching and devastating consequences.

One reads the ringing assertions of Mr. Kennedy and then looks at the state of the world today and it is no contest. Mom was correct. The high-minded ideals of this president free of the dollar-centric media wolves are a high inspiration to all. In today’s dollar-hungry media muck, he would just be another sacrificial lamb in the style of Bill Clinton.

Mr. Clinton, as we all know, has become a source of ridicule, muckraking and sensationalistic yellow journalism that has become the norm of today’s USA Today-style comic-book journalism. Innuendo, gossip and downright lies are touted from all directions by entertainers who tout themselves as legitimate media. They proclaim themselves as “truth-detectors” and “no-spin zones” while committing the most egregious deceptions on the gullible public.

Thanks to the Journal-World for this great article. It is sad that most will probably not see it or even come to understand the meaning.
