Funeral respect

To the editor:

Were you one of the considerate and respectful drivers that pulled over on Kasold Drive or Sixth Street when you saw a funeral procession coming toward you today? Most of the drivers in the oncoming lanes of those streets had the courtesy to do so as a procession I was in headed toward Oak Hill Cemetery. For showing that courtesy and respect for the deceased, her family and friends, I commend you for your consideration.

However, if you were one of the countless drivers (in the northbound lane of Kasold or eastbound on Sixth Street) in such a big hurry that you couldn’t sit back and wait for a few minutes, but rather decided you just had to get past all those slow-moving cars, zipping by at excessive speeds and cutting into the procession line, shame on you.

I’ve lost three good friends this year, and it amazes me that so many drivers either don’t have a bit of common decency or are just plain rude. Next time you see a funeral procession, slow down, pull over, and show your respect.

Lenette Hamm,
