Aging agency to train for seniors advocacy

The Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging will play host to an advocacy training session from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at its Topeka offices, 1720 S.W. Topeka Blvd.

The focus of the training is to educate seniors about issues that pertain to them and help them raise those issues with lawmakers. Legislators from Shawnee, Douglas and Jefferson counties will help in the training.

The agency provides several services to seniors in those three counties, including in-home community based services, attendant care, prescription assistance and information and outreach services. It has helped seniors lead independent lives for 27 years.
