Clouds to hang around until sunset

Lawrence received light rain most of Monday, getting about 0.07 of an inch of precipitation.

The mist is over, but the clouds blanketing the city will continue to hang around Tuesday, says Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist.

“The fog has lifted. We just can’t get rid of the low clouds until sundown,” Sayers said. “You may catch a glimpse of the sun right before it sets.”

Warm temperatures and high humidity will make Tuesday’s weather mild, as the high reaches 66 under mostly cloudy skies.

Wednesday’s morning low will be 43, warming up to a high of 54 by noontime. Conditions will be breezy, with northwest winds 10 to 25 mph, gusting up to 30 mph, he said.

Temperatures will dip Wednesday night and continue to fall past the freezing mark to 29 degrees by Thursday morning.

An upper-level system pushing in from the west will bring more clouds to the Lawrence area Thursday, as the high reaches 49.

Expect a cold, wet day on Friday, Sayers said. The front will bring a 40 percent chance of scattered showers. Friday’s morning low will be 35, with the high reaching 42.
