Law enforcement report

  • Police arrested a 25-year-old man early Saturday morning for allegedly shooting a woman in the hand with a shotgun.

The shooting happened shortly after midnight inside a home in the 600 block of Walnut Street. The suspect allegedly fired the shotgun twice inside the home. One of the blasts struck the 36-year-old woman in the hand.

Both the woman and the man live at the address, according to a report. The woman received treatment at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

  • A 29-year-old Lawrence man suffered a broken jaw during a fight early Saturday morning near 11th and Massachusetts Streets.

The man told police he was walking south on Massachusetts with a friend when they were approached by three unidentified males. They exchanged words, and the three males began striking him, according to a report.
