Lawrence city commission

Bottom Line

The Lawrence City Commission will consider an ordinance establishing a temporary building-permit moratorium for the northwest and northeast corners of Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive.

Background

The ordinance would rebuff Wal-Mart’s application to build a 132,000-square-foot store at the site and give the commission time to revise zoning codes so no big-box retailer could build there.
