Youth event needs adult aides

Agency: East Lawrence Center

Address: 1245 E. 15th St.

Contact Person: Andre Jones, 832-7950

The East Lawrence Center needs about four people each Saturday to volunteer for the Saturday Night Main Event program for youths in fourth through eighth grades. The program provides a safe place for children to dance, play sports and meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets sell for $6 and all money raised goes back into the program. Volunteers should plan to come around 6:30 p.m. to prepare for arriving youths. Workers will chaperone children, help with contests such as the limbo or free-throw competition, sell tickets and concessions, run sporting events and do other tasks to help the event run smoothly.
