Legal battle
To the editor:
The article in the Journal-World May 10 about the battle the Lawrence City Commission is having with Wal-Mart officials concerning plans for a new store at Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive reminded me of a similar battle in Ohio.
My son-in-law is an attorney in this Ohio city where a battle with Wal-Mart has been fought. He was successful in convincing the city officials to reject the Wal-Mart plans.
This legal battle took place two years ago, and I have not heard of any changes since that date. Lawrence city officials should understand that Wal-Mart is not always successful.
