Construction projects to start Monday at KU

Construction projects at Kansas University will affect parking and traffic on campus beginning Monday.

The first project, a waterline rehabilitation project, will replace 4,000 feet of water lines installed in the early 1900s that are a secondary source of water for the university.

Four of the six stages in the project will affect traffic on Jayhawk Boulevard. The other two will affect traffic on Sunflower Road and 13th Street.

During construction, traffic will be restricted to one way. Detours will be provided, and parking on Jayhawk Boulevard will be temporarily removed during the project.

The other project involves rehabilitation of the tunnels that supply steam to campus. The construction will affect parking in Lot 37, near Malott and Haworth halls. Handicap stalls will remain, but reserved stalls and regular permit holders will be rerouted to other lots.
