Real learning

To the editor:

I am a former student of Dennis Dailey’s, and I believe this persecution that is taking place against him is totally unjust and unfounded. His class teaches students to be open-minded about issues they otherwise may not get a chance to discuss. They learn tolerance for different ways of life and different types of people. In this day and age, I’d go so far as to say his class is a necessity. Ignorance is what leads to prejudice, and if people don’t learn tolerance how can progress ever be made? In addition to learning about others, he makes you take a look at yourself and your insecurities. I believe I have a healthier outlook on life because of him and his class. I’m sure this letter is just a variation on the theme of what you’ve been receiving, but I feel better knowing I showed my support for the class and professor at KU that taught me some actual life skills.
