Archaic view

To the editor:

I’m going to write Chuck Woodling’s column for him because he says the same thing without really saying it every time he attacks the KU women’s basketball program: I can’t accept women are athletic beings, too. I have a real problem with this whole concept of female sports. I mean who came up with such absurdity? Why can’t women be satisfied with sitting in the stands watching men perform? I am. Instead of facing some of my deeply embedded resentments, I abuse my power as a journalist and cry about how unfair it is that women have the opportunity to display their athletic abilities. I just wish things could be like they were in the pre-Title IX days when undermining a female athlete was heroic, not archaic.
