Firebird softball drops two

? Free State High’s softball team dropped a doubleheader Wednesday against Olathe South at Olathe District Activities Center.

The Firebirds (4-12) managed just two hits, losing 8-0 and 12-2.

“We hit the ball pretty hard, just right at them,” FSHS coach Pam Pine said. “They hit it hard, but they hit it where we weren’t.”

FSHS plays again Tuesday when it faces intracity rival Lawrence High at 3:30 p.m. at FSHS Field. The Firebirds follow that with a doubleheader at Shawnee Mission East Thursday.

“We need to refocus and get ready to play LHS on Tuesday and Shawnee Mission East,” Pine said. “We need to win those doubleheaders real bad.”
