If you were trying to call Free State High School Friday, you probably got nothing but a busy signal — telephone service went down for several hours.

Julie Boyle, public information director for Lawrence Public Schools, said the telephone service went down about 11 a.m. and had been restored by 3:30 p.m.

While the telephone service was being fixed, Boyle said those needing to call Free State called the district’s main number, 832-5000.

The school district uses Ionex Telecommunications Inc. for its telephone service.
