KU researcher named to national health council

A Kansas University researcher has been named to a council at the National Institutes of Health.

Joan S. Hunt, professor of anatomy and cell biology and pathology and laboratory medicine, was named to the National Advisory Research Resources Council of the National Center for Research Resources.

Hunt, who also is senior associate dean for research and graduate education, is the first person at KU to be named to an NIH council.

She is overseeing a $5.6 million NIH grant known as the Kansas Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network. The grant establishes a research infrastructure network among nine higher education institutions in Kansas.
