Vice provost candidate to visit campus

An administrator at Southwest Missouri State University this week will be at Kansas University as a finalist for the vice provost for student success position.

Don Aripoli, vice president for student affairs at the Springfield, Mo., school since 1993, will participate in a student forum from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Pine Room of the Kansas Union. He also will participate in a faculty and staff forum from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Friday in the union’s Alderson Auditorium.

Aripoli previously served as assistant vice president for student services and associate vice president for student affairs at the University of Arizona. He also was director of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Aripoli is one of five finalists selected by a search committee. The only other announced finalist is Sybil R. Todd, vice president for student affairs at the University of Alabama, who will participate in a faculty and staff forum from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. today in Alderson Auditorium.

The vice provost position, formerly called vice provost for student support, was filled by David Ambler, who retired last summer after 25 years in the job. It oversees many campus organizations, including the KU memorial unions, housing, health services, financial aid, multicultural affairs and new student orientation.

Mary Lee Hummert has served as interim vice provost this academic year.
