War will cost thousands of lives
To the editor:
What a marvelous weekend this has been! Warm at last. Purple crocuses in bloom and daffodils up. I played with my grandson.
And thousands of people are about to die.
I sang and danced with the nicest folks you could meet. I ate delicious Thai curry and drank a good Irish ale.
And thousands of people are about to die.
Friends — family, really — came from around the country. Life was good. Life was intensely precious.
And we are about to waste thousands and thousands of lives.
That’s all I have to say.
Joe Douglas,
Lawrence
