Can’t afford it

To the editor:

I tried to find online exactly where my tax dollars go, and it’s not there. I want to see an itemized budget for Douglas county — including all the auto purchases — and the City of Eudora’s school budget itemized.

This will open your eyes. My home taxes were $300 in 1992 and in 2001 they were $1,300 — that is up by 330 percent.

So this means in 2012 they will be $5,600 a year. That equals $466 a month added to your house payment.

Can you afford this?

This is our money they are spending, we have a right to hold them accountable for where and how they spend it, and waste it.
