Manhunt continues for final suspect in Lawrence shooting death

Lawrence police said Saturday they have taken two men into custody on murder charges and are still searching for a third — believed to be armed and dangerous — in connection with Friday’s shooting death of 22-year-old Quincy Sanders in southwest Lawrence.

Police are still searching for Corey Terrell Robinson, a 22-year-old, 6-foot-1, 150-pound black male, under a murder warrant issued in Douglas County.

Robinson is a Department of Corrections parole violator and is armed, dangerous and represents a threat to police officers and the public, according to Lt. Ed Brunt, a Lawrence police department spokesman. Robinson is believed to be in the Topeka area, Brunt said.

Two suspects have been taken into custody on murder charges, Brunt said.

Randy Owens, 27, Topeka, was apprehended at Kansas City International airport Friday. Tremain Scott, 21, was was booked into Douglas County jail early Saturday morning on murder charges after being arrested in Kansas City, Kan. , Brunt said.

In connection with Scott’s arrest, a search warrant was also executed late Friday night in the 2100 block of North Seventh Street, Kansas City, Kan., with the help of the Kansas City Police Department.

Brunt said an autopsy for Sanders was scheduled for Saturday morning. Investigators were to continue their work throughout the day Saturday at the crime scene at 2603 Ridge Ct.

Sanders’ bullet-riddled body was found near the front door of a duplex at 2603 Ridge Ct. The shooting took place about 3:30 am. during a confrontation between two small groups, police said.
