KU doctoral grad tapped as top Missouri principal

A Kansas University graduate has been named 2003 Missouri High School Principal of the Year.

Darlene Jones, principal of Francis Howell North High School in St. Charles, Mo., will receive the award from the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals during a conference March 24 at Lake of the Ozarks.

Now she will be considered for the National Association of Secondary School Principals award, which includes a $10,000 grant from MetLife.

Jones earned her doctorate of education in 1994 from KU.

Book collecting contest seeks student entries

Kansas University libraries are accepting entries for the 47th annual Snyder Book Collecting Contest.

The contest’s deadline is 5 p.m. March 31 and is open to any KU student. A total of $2,800 in prizes is available.

Winners will be honored during a reception at 3 p.m. April 22 at Oread Books in the Kansas Union.
