No roundabout

To the editor:

I think roundabouts should be taken out. Some people cheat and cut corners. Riding through them on a bicycle is really difficult too! I’m about to cross the street, and someone cheats, goes left to cut a corner and almost hits me!

Some drivers don’t know which way to go because they see people going left and right. We’re in America! We drive on the right side of the road, not the left! Furthermore, roundabouts become a safety hazard when these big old honking fire trucks can’t get through them to the people in need of emergency attention. So then they have to take a longer route around and that could take forever!

How are you supposed to know if you’re going before someone else or not? You’re about to go and then the other person decides he’s going first and then, Wham! You’re hit! Then someone on a cell phone comes and smashes into you and before you know it, you’ve got a big wreck! Instead of these hazardous roundabouts, I suggest maybe speed bumps or stop signs. Then that way fire trucks and emergency vehicles can get through them.
