Guns and terror

To the editor:

Even though terrorists look for new and surprising ways to attack, they may fall back on old tried and true methods of killing and disrupting our day-to-day lives. Isn’t this why we have beefed up our security on air travel? They used it once; they may use it again. Why, then, is our government making it easy for terrorists to get guns?

The Journal-World on Wednesday (Feb. 26) carried the story that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of strengthening the Bush administration’s efforts to keep gun records private. A gun isn’t a weapon of mass destruction — but give a terrorist a semi automatic machine gun in a crowd, and I’m sure the damage would be noticed. In these times of trouble when we are giving up rights for security, I think gun owners, the NRA, and Bush’s people need to give up some of their rights to protect us from the terrorist’s weapon of choice: the gun.
