D.A. praise
To the editor:
Many people of Lawrence have criticized Dist. Atty. Christine Kenney on the way she handled the double murder case in which Wyona Chandlee and Pete Wallace were killed. However, I just want to say that both the D.A. and the assistant D.A. have handled this case wonderfully. She plea-bargained because that is what needed to be done. Damien Lewis is going to be behind bars for the rest of his life. Pursuing the death penalty would not bring my grandmother and Pete back and would have only caused a long, drawn-out case for our family and friends to deal with. I know friends and family are still torn, but it’s over, now we can move on.
