UConn fan

To the editor:

As a huge fan of the UConn Huskies, I am not too upset that the athletic director, Big Lew Perkins, is leaving. Since his tenure at the University of Connecticut, I have watched my ticket prices for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball rise almost every year.

That is on top of the points system that UConn uses to get more money from their fans for better seat location.

So, KU fans, get ready for the increase in prices for all of your favorite university sports teams.

As I said, I am not too upset by his leaving, but the timing of his departure comes as a major surprise with the possible raid of the ACC looking to expand with Miami, Boston College and Syracuse.

Seeing that the football move to 1-A was his idea, and we have a new football stadium built and ready to move in this year, you would think that Lew would have waited to see what might happen to the Big East and UConn.

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to have the new stadium, and I believe that UConn and its basketball programs will survive, but I looked at Perkins as a rat fleeing a sinking ship.

Best of luck to KU.
