City players tapped for All-Star game

Five players from Lawrence have been selected to participate in the Border Battle All-Star baseball game in Kansas City.

Three of the five are from Lawrence High — pitchers Aaron Madill and Spence Chaney, and catcher Tom Mangino. The other two — pitcher Matt Lane and shortstop Matt Berner — are from Free State High.

Berner, Madill, Lane and Mangino are playing for the Raiders this summer. Chaney is with the Renegades.

Free State coach Mike Hill will serve as an assistant coach for the Kansas team that will meet a group of seniors from Missouri schools in the K.C. Metro area.

Game time will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kansas City, Mo., 3 & 2 Complex.
