Future problem?
To the editor:
It was a coincidence to see Alan Zimmerman’s letter in the Journal-World July 25 about the cost of a Wal-Mart store in Lawrence and a large article in the Scene section about the problems Wal-Mart has created in California.
One paragraph in the California article mentions the legal problem Wal-Mart has created in Lawrence. This tells me that if we don’t solve our problem in Lawrence, we and the state of Kansas will end up like California with too many traffic problems. This atmosphere should tell us that residents of Lawrence should work together to see that it won’t happen here.
I think it’s time for a public forum where residents’ ideas and suggestions can be placed on the table for politicians to study.
