Poor service

To the editor:

I decided to write this letter to highlight the inability of Lawrence public schools to practice good customer service. In April, I signed my daughter up to take piano lessons through the public schools and paid the $60 to secure her place. Several weeks later, I received a phone call from a private piano teacher who indicated the schools did not have enough students enrolled to continue the summer piano program. Not once did the schools inform me the program was canceled.

Although my check was received on April 30 and cashed May 12, I have yet to receive reimbursement. I have made more than five phone calls to the public schools regarding this issue and most recently was told “the check is in the mail” — two weeks ago. I feel as if I have provided the school district a no-interest summer loan payable upon their earliest convenience.

Moranda Boles,

Lawrence
