Right thing
To the editor:
I know, let’s take all those ungrateful poor people and ship them off to Topeka. Who needs them? To think they want a living wage. What’s next? Health insurance or a paid vacation? Isn’t it bad enough that we subsidize their bus ride and pay for their kids’ education? And they smell bad, too. We can always get more Mexicans to come up here. They would do the same work for less money and walk, too! The good people of Lawrence don’t need this kind of riff-raff.
Show some gratitude. After all this is the U.S.A. We wouldn’t have gotten this rich without the exploitation of the underclasses.
Why a living wage? Because it’s the right thing to do.
