Baldwin police seek two suspects in rape

Baldwin — Police are looking for two men who are accused in the rape and beating of a woman early Sunday in her Baldwin apartment.

Sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. the woman allowed the men into her apartment, where they forced her into the bedroom and assaulted her, Police Chief Mike McKenna said.

The men then left in a white or light-color, full-size pickup truck, McKenna said.

The woman, in her 40s, sought help from a neighbor, and police were called.

Officers took the woman to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for abrasions and bruises and released, McKenna said.

The woman did not know the men but was trying to befriend them, McKenna said. He declined to elaborate.

The two attackers were described only as white men in their 30s, one taller than the other.
