Parking and shuttle bus information for Dole Institute dedication events

If you’re going to the four-day Dole Institute events (July 19-22), it might be a good idea to park your car and take free transportation to the various activities.

Event organizers have arranged for free shuttle buses and an extensive system of satellite parking throughout the city.

Shuttles will run between the Dole Institute and designated parking lots from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

No general parking will be available at or near the Dole Institute except for patrons with tickets and people with disabled-parking permits.

However, there are more than a dozen areas throughout Lawrence and at KU for general visitors. Free shuttle buses will transport visitors to the Dole Institute. A map will be available online at www.dolemedia.ku.edu.

The only events that require tickets are the “Legacy of Leadership” dinner and the sold-out Glenn Miller Orchestra at the Lawrence Holiday Inn Holidome.

Seating inside the Lied Center for the “Salute to the Heroes” show is sold out, but the public may view the event for free outside the Lied Center on a two-story big screen.

Only a few general public seats are available for the July 20 interfaith worship service in the Lied Center. However, the service also will be shown on the big screen outside the Lied Center and will be broadcast live by radio station KLWN 1320-AM.
